For students who hold undergraduate degrees in departments other than the Industrial Engineering discipline, the student admission principles for the Scientific preparation program in Article 13 of the Istanbul Kültür University Postgraduate Education and Examination Regulation* published in the Official Gazette dated 26 December 2016 and numbered 29930 will be applied.
The main objective of Industrial Engineering is the design, installation, operation and improvement of production systems and integrating human, machine, material, information and energy components to produce products (goods or services). The ever changing needs of today's world, expectations of meeting consumer demands in the production and service sectors as quickly as possible, increase the need to come up with practical solutions to complex systems taking the monetary and time constraints in mind, and emphasize the importance of Industrial Engineering applications.
A qualified workforce in the field of Industrial Engineering has come to be the determining factor in the welfare status of countries. With that, the industrial side of the workforce in question consists of research engineers, and the academy side consists of academicians who are competent in their field. Istanbul Kültür University Industrial Engineering Doctorate Program’s main objective is to educate and cultivate expert engineers and academics who are capable of conducting scientific research in their domains of expertise in Industrial Engineering, assessing the technological developments of the field from a scientific perspective, contributing to the development of science and technology for the betterment of humanity, considering the needs of their society in their research and development efforts, and who have academic ethical integrity. In that regard, a special Education Plan has been put in place to keep the form for the provided education in line with the up-to-date international standards and to provide students with an well-rounded research experience. Students are given the opportunity to specialize in fields such as Operations Research, Data Science, Supply Chain Management, Production Planning, Quality Engineering and Project Management through compulsory and elective field courses in this educational plan.
The faculty consists of scientists who pay attention to monitoring and implementing innovations and international standards, and who focus on research alongside education and training. Students accepted into the program are expected to make authentic contributions to the national/international scientific literature throughout their studies, which aims to reach a position where they not only are able to independently conduct novel research but also to produce developments that will improve and support our country's position within the scientific world.
