NEW MEDIA AND COMMUNICATION MASTER’S DEGREE PROGRAM (THESIS)

The Master's Program in New Media and Communication is a program that offers the opportunity to specialize in the field of new media, addressing fundamental theoretical approaches and current research related to new media. The program's interdisciplinary structure allows for the production of innovative academic work that reflects various perspectives in the field. Within the framework of the program, which examines technology-based contemporary issues in communication from various angles, the aim is to train multifaceted individuals who can analyze the impact of new media on societies, follow current developments, and establish connections between these developments and other disciplines such as technology, art, media, economics, and politics, while adopting an analytical approach. In line with this goal, the curriculum is designed to contribute to students' academic development in accordance with their areas of interest through elective courses related to various disciplines, in addition to the required courses. This structure provides students with the opportunity to gain a multidimensional perspective.

 

Duration

Thesis Program: 2 Academic Years (4 Semesters)

  • The language of the program is Turkish.
  • The program is a thesis-based master's program.
  • In addition to the course load required by the program, students must prepare a "Master's Thesis" in order to graduate.
  • The student should complete all courses without any failing grades and a thesis, on condition that they fulfill 120 ECTS credits. The student’s Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) should be a minimum 2.7 over 4.00
  • A minimum score of 55 in the Verbal field of ALES (Academic Personnel and Graduate Education Entrance Exam) is required.

Program Opening Periods

Program applications are accepted twice a year, in the Fall and Spring semesters of each academic year.

The Master's Program in New Media and Communication, developed in line with these current developments, is designed to enable students to develop a comprehensive and critical approach to theoretical perspectives, research, and applications in the field of new media. The program addresses the effects of digitization in the context of its relationship with different disciplines under the umbrella of communication. The digital transformation brought by new communication technologies, along with the new world order it creates, has led to an increasing number of academic studies in the field. In the Master's Program in New Media and Communication, students will be able to contribute to both academic research and their professional careers with the analytical perspective they gain.
The program explores the multifaceted effects of digitization on society, daily life, and communication. Core courses such as New Media Theories, New Media Technologies, Research Methods, and Seminars are complemented by elective courses that address current developments in the field, including Artificial Intelligence and Communication, Social Media, Digital Economy, Internet of Things, Digital Advertising, Audio Culture and Podcast Marketing, and New Media and Art. This aims to support students' careers in line with the current needs. The goal of this program is to train individuals who can comprehensively grasp and analyze the effects of new communication technologies and contribute to science through original academic work with a scientific approach.

GENERAL CONDITIONS FOR APPLICATION TO ALL PROGRAMS

During the application process, candidates must submit:

  • A photocopy of the Diploma or Temporary Graduation Certificate,
  • A photocopy of the Transcript,
  • A photocopy of the ALES Certificate,
  • Military Status Certificate (for male candidates),
  • 2 Passport-sized Photos,
  • A photocopy of the ID Card,
  • A photocopy of the Foreign Language Certificate (for Doctoral Programs),


During final registration, candidates must submit:

  • The certified copy of the Diploma or Temporary Graduation Certificate,
  • The certified copy of the Transcript,
  • The ALES Certificate (the document must be obtained from the Institute),
  • The original Military Status Certificate (for male candidates),
  • 6 Passport-sized Photos,
  • The Foreign Language Certificate (for Doctoral Programs) (the document must be obtained from the Institute),
  • The first installment of the tuition fee.
