Istanbul Kültür University Computer Engineering Doctorate Program aims to train researcher engineers and academicians who can conduct scientific research in the fields of Computer Engineering, evaluate the technological developments of their field from a scientific perspective, contribute to the development of science and technology for the benefit of humanity, are skeptical, consider the needs of society in their research and development activities, and have a sense of academic ethics. In this direction, the principle is to keep the education at international standards and up-to-date and to provide students with an intensive research experience. Theoretical Computer Science, Computer Networks, Computer Systems and Architecture, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, Data Mining, Signal Processing, Robotics, Artificial Intelligence are the main areas of specialization due to their elective courses. Students accepted to the program are expected to take part in extensive R&D projects and make original contributions to the national/international literature during their education. At the end of the program, students are expected to be able to conduct qualified research independently. Due to their elective courses, the program includes specialization areas such as Theoretical Computer Science, Computer Networks, Computer Systems and Architecture, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, Data Mining, Signal Processing, Robotics. Students accepted to the program are expected to take part in extensive R&D projects and make original contributions to the national/international literature during their education. At the end of the program, students are expected to be able to conduct qualified research independently.
Application Period
Applications to the program are made twice a year in Fall and Spring semesters.
Program Duration Periods
4 (four) Academic Years (8 Semesters) for those admitted with a Master's degree
5 (five) Academic Years (10 Semesters) for those admitted with an undergraduate degree
Program language
The language of instruction of the program is Turkish.
Graduation Requirements:
The program requires a total of 240 ECTS credits. Except for the PhD Qualifying Examination and Thesis, all of the remaining courses are equivalent to 90 ECTS. Students must first be successful in a total of 90 ECTS courses within a maximum of 2 years in order to meet the following conditions.
Students who successfully complete the course requirements are taken to the Qualifying Examination by a jury established with the proposal of the Head of the Department and the approval of the Graduate School Administrative Board. After passing the qualifying exam, a thesis to be written in English is completed in maximum 6 years under the supervision of an appointed advisor. The thesis process is supervised by a thesis supervision committee of at least 3 members established with the proposal of the Head of the Department and the approval of the Graduate School Administrative Board and reported to the Head of the Department at the end of each semester.
In order to graduate from the Doctorate Program; before the submission of the doctoral thesis, within the scope of the thesis; At least one article must be published or accepted for publication in a National or International Refereed journal or at least one publication must be published or accepted for publication as full text in the proceedings of a National or International congress.
The owner of the thesis study, which is found successful by the jury established by the proposal of the Head of the Department and the approval of the Graduate School Administrative Board upon the positive opinion of the advisor faculty member that the graduation requirements are met, is entitled to receive the title of doctor in the field of Computer Engineering.
Thesis studies in the Computer Engineering doctoral program focus on the field of Software Intensive Systems Development. In addition, studies are carried out in the following areas.

Application Conditions
In order to apply to the Computer Engineering Doctorate Program, candidates must have a bachelor's degree or a master's degree with thesis. Those who apply with a master's degree must have an ALES score of 55 or above, and those who apply with a bachelor's degree must have a numerical ALES score of 80 or above. Those who apply to the PhD program with a bachelor's degree must have a bachelor's degree GPA of at least 3 out of 4 or an equivalent score. Those who apply with a master's degree must have a master's GPA of at least 2.5 out of 4 or an equivalent score. Applicants will be required to provide a score document showing that at least 55 points have been obtained from one of YÖKDİL or YDS exams for English proficiency. Applicants must not have been previously dismissed from any master's or doctoral program due to disciplinary offenses.
In addition, ALES will not be required for admission to postgraduate programs for foreign national candidates and Turkish citizen candidates residing abroad, and T.R. Istanbul Kültür University Senate decisions will be implemented.
Students who have completed their undergraduate studies in one of the following programs can apply for a PhD in Computer Engineering:
Computer Sciences, Computer Science and Engineering, Information Security Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Electrical-Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Software Engineering.
