The need and awareness of psychological assistance services is increasing all over the world and in Türkiye. In particular, the demand for psychological assistance and support services after the Covid-19 pandemic has noticeably increased. It is predicted that this increase towards psychological assistance services will continue at least at this rate, that humanity will experience global crises on issues such as global warming and climate change, migration, energy and water in the near future, and that it will have to deal with psychological problems at the individual level as well as the macro-level social and economic problems that crises will create.
While these developments at the macro level increase the need for psychological aid services, the social changes that occur in Türkiye increase the need and awareness of psychological aid services. Factors such as urbanization, increasing the level of education, more participation of women in working life, changes in family structure, increasing average life expectancy, relatively increased welfare, widespread use of technology, especially the use of communication tools increase the speed of social change and transformation, and these changes and transformations force human relations and adaptation efforts. It becomes difficult to overcome these difficulties with the help of individual resources and social support systems, and professional psychological assistance services are needed.
